1. Who we are

Maudella is run by Cavendish Brands Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 07579120). Our registered office is 9 Kingsley Close, London N2 0ES. We are the controller of your personal information, which means we decide how it is used. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

If you have any questions about this policy or your information, email us at hello@maudella.co.uk.

2. What information we collect

When you order from us: your name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing addresses, what you ordered, and how you paid. Card and payment details are handled by our payment providers (see section 5). We never see or store your full card number.

When you contact us: your messages, and any photos or details you send us, for example about a return or a faulty item.

When you sign up for emails or texts: your email address and/or mobile number, and your marketing preferences.

When you leave a review: your name, your review and any photos you add.

When you enter a giveaway: the details you give on the entry form. If you win, we also take the details we need to send you the prize.

When you use our website: information about your device and how you use the site, such as pages viewed, the link that brought you to us, and your approximate location from your IP address. Some of this is collected using cookies (see section 9).

4. Giveaways

Entering a giveaway never depends on agreeing to marketing. Signing up for marketing is a separate, optional choice. When a giveaway ends, anyone who asks can have the winner's surname and county, as the advertising rules require. If you win and don't want these details shared, please tell us.

5. Who we share your information with

We only share what each organisation needs to do its job for us:

  • Shopify, which runs our online shop and processes card payments (Shopify Payments).
  • PayPal and Klarna, if you choose to pay with them. Klarna may run its own credit checks and uses your information under its own privacy notice.
  • The Pack Smart Group, our warehouse, which packs and sends your order and handles returns.
  • Delivery companies, such as Royal Mail and DPD in the UK, and the carriers and customs agents we use for international orders.
  • Klaviyo, which sends our marketing emails and texts and manages our sign-up forms.
  • Judge.me, which collects and shows our product reviews.
  • Trustpilot, which shows our Trustpilot rating on our website and may invite you to review us after you order.
  • Awin, which runs our affiliate programme. If you reach us through an affiliate's link, Awin records this so the affiliate can be paid.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google and Pinterest, for advertising and website measurement, only if you accept these cookies.
  • Microsoft Clarity, which shows us how visitors use our pages, for example where they click and scroll, so we can improve the site. It is only used if you accept analytics cookies.
  • Link My Books and Xero, our bookkeeping software, and our accountant.
  • Professional advisers, such as lawyers and insurers, when needed.
  • The police, HMRC, regulators or courts, where the law requires it.

We never sell your personal information.

6. Information sent outside the UK

Some of these organisations store information outside the UK, for example in the USA or the European Economic Area. Where they do, we make sure your information is protected. This is either because the UK government has approved the country's protection standards, or because the organisation has signed approved data protection contracts with us.

7. How long we keep your information

  • Orders and payment records: 6 years from the end of the financial year in which the order was made, to meet tax and accounting rules.
  • Customer service messages: 2 years after our last contact with you, or longer if they relate to an order we still need to keep.
  • Marketing: until you unsubscribe. After that, we keep a minimal record so we don't contact you again.
  • Reviews: for as long as the review is shown on our website.
  • Giveaway entries: 3 months after the winner is drawn. The winner's details are kept for 12 months.
  • Cookies: see section 9.

8. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of your personal information
  • ask us to correct information that's wrong
  • ask us to delete your information
  • ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to how we use it, including for direct marketing
  • ask us to send your information to you or another organisation in a usable format
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it.

To use any of these rights, email hello@maudella.co.uk. We'll reply within one month. These rights have some legal limits; for example, we must keep order records for tax purposes.

If you're unhappy with how we've used your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
