Caring for your jewellery
Your jewellery keeps up with your beautifully busy life, and looking after it shouldn't add to the list. A few easy habits keep every piece as polished as the day you unwrapped it. Find your material below: plated brass or stainless steel.
Plated brass
Your brass pieces have 18ct gold plating, white gold plating, or a mix of both. Brass earrings have stainless steel posts.
- Last on, first off. Hair and body washes, creams, oils, sprays and perfumes go on before your jewellery.
- Keep it dry. Take it off before you shower, swim, exercise or wash up.
- Clean it gently. After wearing, wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid jewellery cleaners, dips and polishing cloths, which can damage the plating.
- Store it softly. Keep each piece in its pouch so it doesn't scratch or tangle.
Like all plated jewellery, the finish will subtly soften with wear over time.
Stainless steel
Your stainless steel pieces have either a polished steel finish or 18ct gold ion plating (IP).
A splash of water won't harm them, but water, sweat, chlorine and salt water slowly soften the bright shine they arrive with. To keep that just-unboxed glow for longer:
- Last on, first off. Hair and body washes, creams, oils, sprays and perfumes go on before your jewellery.
- Keep it dry. Take it off before you shower, swim or bathe, and pat it dry if it gets wet. Take rings off to wash up, too.
- Clean it gently. Use warm water and a drop of mild soap, then dry it completely with a soft cloth.
- Store it softly. Keep it in its pouch, away from your other jewellery, so it doesn't scratch or tangle.
If your piece is gold plated, the finish will subtly soften with wear over time, like all plated jewellery.
